2 straight years of hurricane use

Posted by Unknown on 13th Sep 2017

Live on the central east coast of florida. I have an old barn with swinging doors that will allow water to be blown in. Used the quick dams last year during Hurricane Matthew and just recently for Hurricane Irma. Quick Dam kept water out of the barn remarkably well, even with the very high winds. I will be getting a fresh supply soon since our hurricane season is not over yet this year.

I still have not yet received my order from UPS. My previous purchase from Home Depot worked well during the Houston Flood.

No longer need to run for the hills!

Posted by Unknown on 4th Sep 2017

For the last 33 years, we have lived in our home. When the city was building the main street that goes passed our home, they did not think about our home being below the street level! Whenever there is flash flooding; either due to a previous lack of rain, causing the ground to be too hard to absorb the rain or coming down so fast that the ground cannot absorb it and it runs off INTO our home ending with a swimming pool as our entryway and bedrooms. Previously, we would run for beach towels to try to block it from entering inside. We would put sandbags in front of the house and door. We would tape plastic 4' up the siding on the porch and then lay more sandbags. It kept some of the rain out, but not all! Then I came across "Flood Control" while I was online. I thought well, it can't hurt! Just last week we had one of those fast downpours where the ran comes in under the front door very quickly. I ran to the closet and took out the "Flood Control". While I was getting it, the entryway was already needing towels. As soon as I laid down the "Flood Control", the rain stopped coming inside! The rain was really coming down outside, but not inside. We continued to watch the area closely and had great success with keeping the rain where it belonged. We left the barrier at the door until the next morning. Picked it up, NO MESS. It had absorbed all the water and there was no dripping traveling to the trash. I ordered 2 more to put in the closet until they are needed. They came 2 days later! Amazing product. Amazing company! I recommend this to anyone who has periodic flooding. Of course, nothing can stop storms like Hurricane Harvey. And for those people I feel terrible for their deep losses. But, this will help those who have other problems with water: hot water tank leaked, rain blowing in under your doors or windows, etc. I recommend this HIGHLY!

Worked great in Houston-Clear Lake during Harvey

Posted by Pat on 30th Aug 2017

I used the 10 foot barrier on my first floor apartment patio and it did great! I needed something easy to use since I have back issues, and can't left 60 lb sand bags. I put the barrier at my sliding door before the rain was bad and it was able to keep the waters from coming in my patio door. I have ordered 3 more 17 foot barriers so I have more when I need them.

Product works very well. Would have given it 5 stars except for the outrageous shipping and handling costs.

    Stop the unexpected

Posted by Stan Ruszkowski on 16th Dec 2016

An unfortunate incident with my boiler leaking water turned out to be an inconvenience rather than a disaster because I had two 5'x6" Quick Dams that I had laid down some months back. One of the Quick Dams alone must have soaked up at least 10 Pounds of water. This product is a must as a preventive measure and peace of mind. Of course I ordered 4 more. Those sausage like dams with the Scottish highlander on the box can't hold a candle to Quick Dams.

Colorado snow melt in garage! Excellent product!

Posted by KayInCO on 10th Dec 2016

We live in Colorado. This house was built in the 1950's and at that time they did not install drains in the garage and this one is not sloped. Every year we have an issue when it snows and we bring all that snow into the garage that is on the tires and top of the car. Through the night, it melts and we end up with a huge wet mess on the garage floor and end up tracking it into the house. Anything that is on the garage floor gets wet. I almost slipped and fell once. I have been looking for a product as a barrier to contain the water away from the entry and the back of the garage where we have shelves and plastic containers etc. I purchased 2 of the 17 foot barriers. One strip lies North to South parallel to the vehicle by driver's side door, creating a 5' walkway into the house that is water free! The other strip lies East to West at the front end of the vehicles (we have 2 with snow melting off them) creating another walkway in front of the cars where our shelves are located. The strips are very easy to use and perform as described. I can walk out into the garage at night in my slippers and not step in any of the messy snow melt! Completely happy and satisfied with this purchase an highly recommend this product.
